Finding My Photo Mojo, Light, and Equanimity in the Desert

Black and White Photographs of the American Southwest

Maybe the Art Queen of Joshua Tree could help me get my head on straight?

Last year, I lost my photo mojo and the desire to write.

2024 left me dazed, discouraged, and damaged. I was not interested in writing, posting on social media, or creating photographs. I didn't want to read anything.

I was in a funk.

Luckily, before my dark demise, I had planned a photography project.

My Terrific Traveling Partner and I scheduled a van trip to camp in the California and Arizona desert Southwest. We picked some of our favorite destinations and made a series of campground reservations. A beautiful part of camping is that campsite reservations are an easy commitment and a fun nudge to take positive action.

I lost my photo mojo, but because I committed early, I found no excuse but to buck up, grab my iPhone 15 Pro Max, pull out my big girl camera (Olympus OMD EM5 Mark 2), and look at the beautiful world around me.

I found a light in the desert and photographed it in black and white.

And I found my theme and direction for moving forward in 2025.
